Workshop · Practice Tier 02

First Lane

Time: Three sessions over a week

Try three of the 10 style branches. Notice which one your hand wants to keep doing. This workshop is about discovering your natural style — not assigning yourself one.

You can't know which lane is yours until you've tried a few. Most artists think they know which one fits them and find out they're wrong. The Builder thought they were a Realist. The Voice thought they were a Stylist. The Maker started in a sketchbook.

This workshop runs you through three different style branches in one week. The goal isn't mastery — it's recognition. By the end, you'll know which one made you forget to check your phone.

Whatever the 3 styles need

Depends on what you pick. Start with styles whose tools you already own.

Step by step.

Step 01

Pick your three styles to try.

Pick one that looks easy, one that looks hard, and one that looks weird. The mix matters. Don't all-realist or all-pop; mix temperatures.

Step 02

Day 1: Make one piece in the FIRST style.

Use that style's beginner exercise (from the style branch page). One hour. One piece. Move on.

Step 03

Day 3: Make one piece in the SECOND style.

Same rule — one hour, one piece, the beginner exercise. Save the piece.

Step 04

Day 5: Make one piece in the THIRD style.

Same. Save it.

Step 05

Day 7: Look at all three pieces side by side.

Which one felt the most ALIVE while you were making it? Which one did you want to keep working on? Which one made the hour go fastest? That's your lane. Probably.

Step 06

Pick the winning lane and go deeper.

Open that lane page on the planet. Open the style branch behind it. Do the next 3-5 exercises. Now you're a Realist (or Builder, or Loud One). Now you have a lane.

Signs you’re doing it right.

Time disappearing

The hour that felt like 15 minutes — that's the right lane.

😊

Pleasure in the difficulty

Every lane is hard. The right one is the hardness you ENJOY.

🪞

Recognition

Some lanes make you think 'I see myself in this.' That's the signal.

If you’re stuck, it’s probably one of these.

👑

Picking based on what you THINK is impressive

Don't pick realism because it 'looks like the hardest.' Pick what your hand wants to do.

🏃

Quitting before finishing all three

If you skip a style because you're 'not good at it' before trying, you'll never know. Force-finish all three.

🔁

Trying to be in every lane

Multi-lane mastery comes much later. Pick ONE lane for now. The mix happens later in the Mix Your Own page.
