The machine is your apprentice, not your oracle.
There's a healthy way to work with AI and an unhealthy way. The unhealthy way treats the machine like a magic 8-ball — you ask, it decides, you obey. The healthy way treats the machine like an apprentice or a fast-drafting partner — you decide the direction, the machine does the labor-intensive drafting, you edit and choose.
In a real partnership, both sides are honest about what they're good at. The AI is fast, patient, and good at pattern-based work. You are the one with taste, judgment, context, and skin in the game. If either side pretends to be more than they are, the partnership breaks.
Six steps. You'll match tasks to who should do them, translate a real project into a partnership plan, pick the smart division of labor, write down how YOU want to work with the machine, and name what it feels like to be the boss (not the follower) in that relationship.

SITUATION 01
You have a school project. You want to use AI. You have 4 hours.
B is the partnership move. A saves time but you learn nothing — and it's cheating besides. B uses the AI for the parts it's actually best at (fast research, editing) while YOU do the thinking part. This is the pattern real adults use with AI at work.
SITUATION 02
You want a piece of art for a birthday card. You can't draw.
B is the maker's move. A gives you a generic AI card the recipient will forget. B is a real GIFT — your taste, your memory of them, your judgment. The AI does the drawing labor; you provide the meaning.
SITUATION 03
The AI is helping you decide between two friends' invitations for the weekend.
B is the commander move. The AI doesn't know your friends. It doesn't know which friendship needs more investment right now, or which invitation matters more emotionally. Use it to widen your view — but the actual choice is yours, because you're the one who has to live with it.
