The Star Chart

Twenty questions. Four tiers. One honest answer to "where do I actually stand right now?" The constellation you're building is called First Ask.

A star chart tells you where you are in the universe. This one tells you where you are with the machine.

You're going to answer 20 questions across four tiers. Some will feel obvious. Some won't. Both are useful. The point isn't to be impressive — it's to be honest. Where you actually are right now is the only starting point that works.

The scoring is strict. A tier counts as "fully cleared" only if you got all five questions right. If you got four right, that tier becomes your starting point — the one you missed shows where the gap is, and that's where the work begins.

The whole thing takes about 15 minutes. You can't fail it. Your placement tells the rest of the planet how to teach you.

Take a breath. There's no time pressure. Pick the answer you think is right — if you're guessing, pick anyway. Guessing tells the chart something too.

TIER 1 · CURIOUS
The bedrock
You know a machine can answer questions. You're not sure exactly what to ask it or what it can actually do. Every cadet starts here.

TIER 2 · CAREFUL
The first walls
Where you learn the machine is not a person and not an oracle. It's a tool that can be wrong with confidence. The wall is learning to check.

Tier 3 — Capable

TIER 3 · CAPABLE
The first ascent
Where you can build a prompt on purpose, iterate on a bad answer, and get real work done. Most middle-school cadets should be reaching this tier.

TIER 4 · COMMANDER
The thinking layer
Where the machine is your apprentice, not your boss. You know what only you can decide, what to hand off, and when to say no. The tier that runs circles around the tier below.

Step 6 · Your Position

Where you stand — and what comes next

Reflect — what surprised you?

A question you got wrong that you thought would be easy. A question you got right that you thought would be hard. The honest answer is data — for you, and for how the planet teaches you next.
