Every locked door has a way through. The skill is knowing which kind it is before you start pulling.

Missing information, missing skill, missing permission, or genuinely impossible — four kinds of stuck with four completely different answers. Then the methods: describe what you expected and what happened, halve it, change one thing at a time, cheapest check first. Ten problems, including the hardest one — when the fault is in the thing you are most certain about.

Is it a math-shaped problem (one right answer)? An invention-shaped problem (many possible answers)? A human-shaped problem (depends on what someone else thinks)? Naming the kind is half the work.
