Credit isn't about money. Credit is about trust — and trust is a number that follows you everywhere once you're an adult. Better to learn what makes the number go up and down before it starts following you.
Two dollars for lunch. Three payments of twelve. A friend who always pays you back and one who never has. Ten deals with the arithmetic worked out so you can follow it — because almost every credit mistake is made by someone who never multiplied the small number by how many times they would pay it. Nothing here tells you borrowing is bad. It tells you what the question is.
Two things ran through nearly all ten. First: multiply the small payment by how many times you make it, every single time. Second: a loan without a date is not generosity, it is a slow argument — and that is as true for two dollars as it is for two hundred thousand.
