An AI can be a thinking partner — if you stay the lead thinker. The risk is that you stop bringing yourself to the work.

When you use AI as a co-thinker, the danger is subtle: it gives you a polished idea, you accept it, and now your thinking has been outsourced. Your voice quietly drifts toward the machine's.

There's a simple defense. Always start with your own idea first. Then bring AI in to push back, expand, challenge, or polish. Never the other way around.

By the end of this workshop you'll have practiced the "me first, then AI" loop on a real piece of work.

Step 4 · Create

Run a "me first, then AI" plan on a real task

Pick a real task you have coming up. Plan how you'd run it — what you'd do first, what you'd ask AI for, how you'd decide what to keep.

Stuck? Use "writing a thank-you note to a teacher." Step 1: I write a rough one myself. Step 2: I ask AI for 3 honest critiques. Step 3: I keep my voice but fix the one thing that was actually weak.
