Mixing isn't software. Mixing is the question, "what should I hear most, and what should I hear least?" answered for every second of the song.
A mix is the way the parts of a song are balanced. Loud against quiet. Bright against dark. Front against back. Wide against narrow.
The producer's job is to decide what the listener's attention should land on at every moment. Sometimes the vocal is the king. Sometimes the drums take over. Sometimes everything drops out except one note.
You don't need any gear for this workshop. You need ears, and one song you know by heart.
