THE PATH
Reading carefully. Writing specifically. Showing up to the page on the days when nothing comes. The Library teaches every part of that, in this order.
The Library is the foundation planet for every other one. Every workshop on every other planet asks the cadet to read carefully or write something true. If the floor here is solid, the rest of the Academy doubles in value. If it's not, every other planet plateaus.
Three tracks: foundation (now), practice (queued), and mastery (later). Most cadets will run them in order. Each one builds the muscle the next one needs.
These are live. Together they form the floor: see the bones of a story, read like a builder, then write your first real page.
Character, want, problem, change. Recognize the four bones every story has. End with a one-paragraph story of your own.
Notice the moves. Steal the good ones, with credit. The skill that turns reading from passive to active.
Frame, details, opening line, page. Cadets walk out with 200 words of real writing — theirs.
After the foundation, cadets put writing under pressure. Build a real character, design real conflict, revise without trashing.
Building a character a reader believes — one specific detail and one real contradiction at a time.

Revising your own writing without trashing it. Same idea, half as long, twice as alive.
For cadets who've finished tracks 1 and 2 and want the real thing. Find your voice, choose your form, write for someone specific.
Finding your authentic writing voice. The way you'd sound if you weren't trying to sound like a writer.
The same idea written as a poem, a story, and an essay. Choose the form that serves the idea.
What changes when you write for one real reader instead of for everybody.
The Library doesn't end on this page. The skills you build here travel with you to every other planet in the Academy. Use what you learn about specifics in The Studio. Use what you learn about voice in The Workshop. Use what you learn about revision everywhere.
And eventually — if you stay with it — reading and writing stop being skills you "have." They become how you think. A new idea shows up; you write to find out what you actually believe. A confusing book shows up; you read to find out who you are. That's not a hobby. That's a way of being alive.
That's where this leads. That's why the Library is built like this.
