The Lab · Workshop 03 · Foundation
Five steps. About 25 minutes. Up to 7 stars. The constellation you're building is called First Light.
Three pieces. One closed loop. The first time you make light happen on purpose changes how you see every wall outlet for the rest of your life.
Adults required. This workshop assumes a grown-up is sitting next to you for any hands-on parts. Batteries, even small ones, can get warm or short out. The thinking is yours; the supervision is theirs. Both matter.
A circuit is a closed loop that lets energy travel. Energy leaves the battery, runs through the wire, passes through the bulb (which uses some of the energy as light), and returns to the battery. Open the loop anywhere — no light. Close it — light.
By the end of this workshop you'll have planned one real circuit on paper, identified each piece, and (with a grown-up) known how to make it real.
That's the warm-up. When you've actually read it — not skimmed — tap below.
Pick all that fit.
Click a piece, then what it does.
Don't try to build it alone. Draw it with words first — what each piece is, in what order, and where the loop closes. Then show your drawing to a grown-up before you touch any battery.
Stuck? Try: Piece 1 = AA battery (positive end). Piece 2 = wire to bulb. Piece 3 = small light bulb. Piece 4 = wire from bulb back to battery (negative end). Loop closes. Light happens.
One sentence in your own words.
