For parents who want to help

Want to help build C.U.L.T. Kids?

We've heard from parents who aren't professionals in tech or curriculum, but who want to be part of this. There is room for you — in narrow, well-defined roles with real guardrails. Read on.

The shape of this program

Volunteer programs blow up when expectations don't match. So we're writing the structure down at the start. This is small on purpose. Small can scale; messy can't.

What this IS

  • Narrow, defined roles with checklists
  • A few hours a week, not a second job
  • Real work that makes the platform better
  • Founding Family honorific recognized in the platform’s history (the platform is free for every family regardless)
  • Off-ramp at any time, no questions
  • Your name on the volunteer wall if you want recognition

What this is NOT

  • Access to other families' data — never
  • Handling money, payments, or subscriptions
  • Writing curriculum (that stays with the curator)
  • Designing the platform direction
  • A path to free unlimited access without contribution
  • An open-ended commitment with no off-ramp

Available volunteer roles

Start with one. We can add more as the program grows. Today there are three.

Curriculum Reader

~2 hrs/wk

Read one workshop per week and write a 1-paragraph reaction. Are the instructions clear? Would your kid understand it? Did something not land? Did something land especially well? Pre-launch QA from a real parent's eye.

What you deliver each week

  • One workshop read, top to bottom (pick from the assigned queue)
  • 1-paragraph written reaction (5-8 sentences) emailed to family@cultlife.net
  • Flag anything broken, confusing, or factually off

Why this matters

  • You're catching the gaps the curator can't see anymore (it's hard to read your own writing as a stranger)
  • Your kid benefits directly from sharper curriculum the next time they open it

Quality Scout

~1 hr/wk

Click around the Kids site looking for broken links, typos, missing footers, dead-ends, mobile glitches, and "this looks wrong" surfaces. File whatever you find. Lightest role available.

What you deliver each week

  • ~30-60 min of exploring the site (different sections each week)
  • One short email per find: the URL, what's wrong, screenshot if possible
  • Or batch them into a weekly digest — your choice

Why this matters

  • Every typo you catch is one a stranger doesn't see first
  • Mobile glitches and dead-ends are the #1 reason platforms feel unfinished — your fresh eyes catch what we miss

Constellation Moderator

~1 hr/wk · Sundays

Once-a-week review of the Constellation opt-in submissions from other families. Apply the existing moderation checklist (≤ 8 words, no counts, no comparison language, no identifying info). Flag anything that should be edited; approve clean ones.

What you deliver each week

  • ~10-15 submissions reviewed Sunday evening
  • Each one marked: approve / propose edit / decline
  • Forwarded back to the curator with your notes (curator does final publish)

Why this matters

  • The Constellation only works if every entry hits the same tone — a second pair of eyes catches drift
  • You see how other families are talking about their cadets (it's quietly inspiring)

More roles will open as the platform grows — when Teens opens, when Adult opens, when the nonprofit forms, when we need help with specific events. We'll post here when new ones become available.

What you get back

In thanks for active participation

Founding Family honorific — your name in the platform’s founding history, permanent, regardless of how long you volunteer. Your cadet keeps full platform access for free — that’s true for every family on the platform, volunteer or not. The platform itself is free; what volunteering adds is recognition and a direct hand in shaping what gets built.

Recognition (optional): if you want it, your first name + role on the Volunteer Wall, an internal page acknowledging the people who help build this. Anonymity if you'd rather skip.

Early access to new platform tiers (Teens, Adult) as they roll out, and the option to volunteer on those too if you'd like.

The off-ramp is always open

If you need to step back

Email family@cultlife.net. Tell us "I need to pause" or "I'm done." We say thank you, your cadet’s platform access continues uninterrupted (the platform is free regardless of volunteering), and your Founding Family honorific stays attached to your name. No guilt, no follow-up pressure, no awkwardness next time we see you. Volunteering only works if leaving is as easy as starting.

Common questions

What if I miss a week?

Once is no problem — life happens, just send a one-line "missed this week, back next week" if you can. Multiple weeks in a row without a heads-up, we'll check in. Three months of no activity, we'll move you off the active list (you can rejoin anytime).

Can my cadet help?

Not in these v1 roles. Once The Stage and the cadet-author program are live, your cadet can submit their own work for publishing. That's a separate path. These volunteer roles are parent-only for now.

Do you need a background check?

For Curriculum Reader and Quality Scout — no, because neither role touches any cadet's data. For Constellation Moderator — yes, free national background check via Sterling or similar (we cover the cost). You're reviewing things parents submitted about their kids, and we want everyone comfortable with that.

Will my volunteer time be public?

Only if you opt in to the Volunteer Wall. The page lists first name + role (no last name, no photo, no contact). You can stay completely anonymous and still volunteer.

What if I want to do more than one role?

Start with one for a month. If you've nailed the cadence and want to add another, email and we'll add it. Don't stack two from day one — most people who try that burn out within 6 weeks.

Is this an official paid position?

No — these are volunteer roles with the Founding Family honorific + direct curator contact as thanks, not employment. If volunteering turns into something we’d want to pay you for someday, we’ll have that conversation separately. For now: small contribution, small thanks, easy off-ramp.

Who reviews your work?

Nyasia (the curator) reads every weekly submission. She'll write back with edits, questions, or just a thanks. Brief weekly written check-in either direction.

Want in? Email us.

Tell us which role catches you (or which one your kid would be proud you took on), and how much time you can realistically commit per week. We'll write back within two business days with the next step.
