One tablet, one notebook, family by family. Walk in. Don't reveal it's our build until they're done. Let them get stuck. Record the truth. This rubric goes with you.

The Three Rules

Don't reveal it's our build until they're done. Real-stranger reactions only. Founder-bias contaminates everything.
Don't help when they get stuck. The stuck moment is the data. Watch what they try. Note where they give up.
Get one direct quote per person. Even if it's "huh, weird." Quotes survive memory. Paraphrases get sanded down.

The Opening Script

"Hey — I'm helping test out a kids' learning website. Could I get 10 minutes of your honest feedback? You'd just play around on it and tell me what you think. No right answers. The weirder the reaction, the more useful."

If they ask whose website: "It's a small team building it. They're trying to figure out what works for real families before they launch. That's why I'm asking you."

After they're done, then reveal: "OK, real talk — that's actually our family's project. Dad's been building it. Your reactions are exactly what we needed before we go any wider."

What to Watch For

First 30 seconds: Did they lean in or lean out? Are they reading or scrolling past?
First click: Where did their finger go first? Was that what we expected?
Stuck moments: Where did they pause, scroll back, or look at you for help?
Lit-up moments: What made them smile, laugh, or say something unprompted?
Concept confusion vs. nav confusion: Did they not understand the IDEA, or just not understand HOW to get to it? These are completely different bugs.
"Come back later" signal: Did they ask if they could play more later? That's the gold.
